Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Omelyan believes that the low-cost Wizz Air will definitely appear at Odessa airport. He expressed this opinion in an interview with the local television station Reporter.
“I know that they plan to launch about 20 new flights this year. It will be mostly low-cost. Ryanair announced its entry into the Odessa market.
I think that the company Wizz Air will definitely be present here. We are convinced that in the near future, within a year or two, the number of passengers at Odessa airport will at least double”, said the minister.
According to Omelyan, this year the new runway will be fully commissioned. He explained the postponement by certain interruptions in the financing of work.
“What I hear from private owners of a private terminal – they also plan to launch it fully into the autumn.
In fact, we will have a wonderful new airport in the Odessa region. I am convinced that with the right approach of the airport management, city and region authorities, Odessa has every chance of becoming the second or third hub of Ukraine”, Omelyan stressed.
