About Ukraine
Ukraine is a young developing country.
Ukraine become independent in 1991, but nowadays it is also trying not to stop development in any field. Relations with Russia, membership in EC and NATO is the main questions for today.
Among the most famous achievements of Ukraine:
- pop artist Ruslana won Eurovision contest in 2004 and Ukraine has an honor to accept next Eurovision contest in 2005;
- football world was delighted by play of Ukrainian players: Oleg Blokhin (Golden Ball - 1975), Ihor Belanov (Golden Ball - 1986), Andriy Shevchenko (Golden Ball - 2004), Andriy Voronin, Anatoliy Tymoschuk;
- On 18, April 2007 in Cardiff (Great Britain) Ukraine & Poland won the competition about the rights to hold the final part of European Football Championship EURO-2012;
- 2008:
- successful participation in XXIX Summer Olympic games - 27 medals ( 7 gold, 5 silver, 15 bronze) - and high 11th place in non-official medals rate;
- triumph of Vitaliy Klichko (12, October, won against S.Piter) and first time in the history two brothers became heavy-weight champions at the same time.
- 2009:
- FC Shakhtar (Donetsk) won the UEFA Cup with the Werder (Germany) on 20th, May.
